Bill M. Smith

Bill M. Smith, age 87, Grandview, passed away on January 20, 2025.

He was born September 6, 1937, in Ottawa County, OK, the son of Luther and Grace (Kidwell) Smith.Bill was a 1955 graduate of Seneca High School. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern State College in 1959 and his Master’s degree from Central Missouri State University in 1971. 

Bill married Edna Howsmon April 19, 1956, in Seneca, MO, and had three children. They were married for sixty-seven years. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.He taught school and coached several sports for forty-one years. He enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Kansas City Chiefs football, St. Louis Blues ice hockey, and Missouri Tigers football and basketball.He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grandview, MO, and served as a deacon.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Luther and Grace, his sisters Vera Turner, Ruth Mailes, and Patty Jacobs; his brother Bob Smith; and his son Steve Smith.

He is survived by his wife Edna; his daughters Sherri Delaney (husband Gary) and Debbie Grantham; grandchildren Jeremy Smith, (wife Charity), Becki Parris (husband Brian), Tara Delaney, Sean Grantham, and Kristen Bushmoyer (husband Josh); great-grandchildren Arya Smith, Gibson Smith, Jonesy Smith, and Desi Bushmoyer; and several nieces and nephews.
